Product Care & Maintenance Guidelines

General cleaning of ROYAL STONE® can be done with soap and water, ammonia based liquid cleaners (glass cleaner), and most conventional non-abrasive household or industrial cleaners. Surface scratches, dents and superficial burns as well as stubborn stains from cigarette burns, dyes, marking pens, etc. can easily be re-moved.

To enhance the visual color intensity of your ROYAL STONE® countertop and/or to hide minor scuffs and scratches, apply a light coat of Countertop Magic® and wipe away excess with a soft cloth. Countertop Magic® is recommended for maintaining and cleaning all countertops. It cleans without streaking and is safe on all food handling surfaces. It is available in a convenient 13-oz aerosol can available from your ROYAL STONE® Certified Fabricator/Installer or from ROYAL STONE®.

Damage to ROYAL STONE® such as chips, deep cuts or scratches, cracks or burns can easily be repaired by a ROYAL STONE® Certified Fabricator-Craftsman to restore its original look and finish.

DO'S AND DON'TS
• ALWAYS run cool tap water before pouring boiling water into ROYAL STONE® sinks.
• ALWAYS run warm tap water before pouring ice or ice water into ROYAL STONE® sinks.
• ALWAYS use a hot pad or trivet under hot pots or heat producing appliances. NEVER place hot items directly on countertop.
• use a trivet under frozen items or ice. DO NOT place ice or frozen foods directly on counter for any prolonged length of time.
• AVOID cutting on countertop. Using a cutting board is RECOMMENDED.
• NEVER stand on your counters.
• AVOID harsh chemicals such as bleach, drain cleaners and paint removers.
• AVOID sliding hard or rough bottom objects across any surfaces.
• Use felt protectors on the bottom of pottery or other hard objects, especially on gloss finished countertop.
• To restore a bright white sink color, fill the sink with warm water. Add a cup of liquid bleach. Let stand for about 1 hour. Drain and rinse.
• BEFORE attempting the removal of scratches, scuffs and stains, apply a light coat of Countertop Magic®. If the scratch, scuff or stain is still visible, then follow the recommended steps to sand and rub out the scratch.
• ALWAYS begin removing scratches with the LEAST abrasive material. Should the scratch remain visible, gradually increase the abrasive used. Once the scratch is gone, continue to remove any remaining scuffing with finer and finer abrasive as recommended.

MATTE & SATIN FINISH

Cleaning: Use soap and water to remove dirt, grease, etc. Dry with a with terry towel.
Scratches: For stubborn stains and most light surface scratches use a 3M® Superfine Sanding Sponge (available as part of Royal Stone's Care & Maintenance Kit. Kit sold separately), is Recommended. Wet the sanding sponge and lightly rub the scratch in a circular motion. Feather out the sanding by decreasing sanding pressure as the circular sanding area is increased. Always sand wet. Remove excess residue with towel. If scratch or marks are not removed, start over. First use 60 micron (or 220 grit) sandpaper, then use the superfine sanding sponge, and finally use 000 superfine steel wool (available at any hardware store) to achieve the desired finish. Feather out each successive step over a greater area. After sanding, clean with a non-abrasive cleanser. An application of Countertop Magic® can be applied if desired.
Resorting & Maintaining Original Finish. An application of Countertop Magic® can be applied as desired. If the countertop begins to appear blotchy or have an uneven finish, lightly go over the entire countertop surface with 000 superfine steel wool.

Scratches. Begin by following the steps above. Continue sanding with a 60-micron sanding paper and then a 30-micron paper. Depending on the degree of gloss, polishing may also be required. A low speed buffer and paste wax is recommended to bring the countertop to the desired gloss finish.
CAUTION: High speed buffers, if NOT used properly, may cause burn marks which will require the entire process to be repeated.
RECOMMENDATION: Should finish become dull, contact your ROYAL STONE® Certified Fabricator/Installer.
Restoring & Maintaining Original Finish. Periodically go over the entire surface with an application of Countertop Magic®. Should finish become dull, contact your ROYAL STONE® Certified Fabricator/Installer.
