Fabricator Friendly Products
Listening to fabricators is the hallmark of Royal Stone®'s acceptance among solid surface
fabrication shops. Working with the solid surface materials every day, fabricators often
ask why? Why isn't so-and-so available? This was the catalyst that prompted Royal Stone® to
introduce its 1" thick build-up strip. Conventional countertop construction will use two
strips of 1/2" thick material, glued together and then glued to the underside of the deck
material, in order to create a 1-1/2" thick front edge on the countertop. Without a
material cost premium, a increase in productivity by 20% and reduces adhesive usage,
it is no wonder that Royal Stone® has earned the title of the most 'fabricator friendly'
solid surface material in the market.
Custom sized sheets can significantly impact material cost and/or labor. Royal Stone®
offers sheets from a minimum of 3" wide to a maximum of 48" wide, from a minimum of 24"
in length to a maximum of 144" in length, and from 1/4" thick up to 5-3/4" thick. An
analysis of one client's orders over a 6-month period gave the following: Of 50 orders,
27 included custom size sheets. Calculating material cost with standard sheets verses
custom sheets determined that the fabricator saved an average of over $300.00 per order
(or more than $8,100.00). Another client ordered 13 sheets of a Corian color match.
Of the 13 sheets, 9 were 42" wide by 144" long. The labor savings by not having to bond
long seams combined with material saved was substantial.
Material consistency makes fabrication faster and easier. All sheets are held to a
uniform thickness throughout the sheet, making the alignment of sheets being bonded
hassle free. Sinks and sheets are completely sanded and bond ready. The bonding edge
of sinks are flat to ±0.005" through Royal Stone®'s True Edge process.
All of these features are designed to make the fabricator more productive, and more
price competitive.
